SMALL IN SIZE, BIG IN PERSONALITY

Nigerian and Pygmy goats represent an ideal choice for small farms, offering a unique combination of charm, practicality, and ease of care. Although both breeds are classified as miniature, their sizes can vary. Our breeding program prioritises health and ease of kidding over the pursuit of the smallest goats.

These breeds are particularly well suited for farms with limited space, as they provide both companionship and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. When managed properly, goats can be a significant asset to land management.

Nigerian goats, in particular, serve as an excellent alternative dairy source, boasting the highest butterfat content among all dairy breeds. Both Nigerian and Pygmy goats are renowned for their calm and gentle dispositions, as well as their affinity for human interaction, making them wonderful additions to any farming enterprise.

Chickens are an excellent choice for small properties, requiring minimal infrastructure and upkeep. They help reduce food waste by turning scraps into nutrient-rich eggs and natural fertilizer—all while providing endless entertainment. Whether you’re starting with a few hens or building a backyard flock, heritage chickens are a rewarding and sustainable addition to your farm.

Scotchwood Farm occasionally offers pullets and larger animals for sale. Please contact us to discuss purchasing for your flock.
